Cardinal Jozef Tomko delivered that message to members of the Federation of Nocturnal Adoration, which held its world meeting in the framework of the Eucharistic Congress here.
During the Mass that was celebrated after the election of the federation’s new president, Cardinal Tomko urged the adorers to make their faith their life, not just a ritual or obligation.
Earlier, Cardinal Juan Sandoval Íñiguez of Guadalajara called on the federation’s 1,500 member groups to be «the spinal cord of all parish and pastoral activities, both in their own dioceses as well as in the universal Church.»
Enrique Badía is the new president of the World Council of the Federation of Nocturnal Adoration.
The Nocturnal Adoration Society consists of Catholics (single, married and religious) in communion with the Church, committed to the adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament during the night. It is established at the diocesan, national and world level.
The group was founded by Hermann Cohen in Paris in 1848. The world federation, established in 1963, has 4 million participants in 40 countries.
