The meeting is being attended by representatives of bishops’ conferences and the national Caritas of countries affected by the disaster, as well as Caritas officials of countries contributing resources.
Caritas sources said that the meeting is focusing on the mechanisms for the execution of post-emergency and reconstruction plans, brought up to date by Caritas of Southeast Asia.
As a priority, the participants will establish which Caritas organizations of the international network will support the reconstruction work headed by each national Caritas in the affected countries.
The meeting will also define the mechanisms of execution and financial follow-up of each of the reconstruction programs planned.
Caritas Internationalis, which convoked the meeting, is a confederation of 162 Catholic relief, development and social service organizations.
