SÃO LUIS, Brazil, NOV. 26, 2010 (Zenit.org).- A 28-year-old priest who was ordained less than three months ago was killed last week in Brazil. The apparent motive was robbery.

Father Bernardo Muniz Rabelo Amaral was shot in the neck and chest on the afternoon of Nov. 20. The assassin took the priest’s car, money and cell phone.

The priest was still alive when he was taken to the hospital but died around 9 p.m. that evening.

Earlier this year, a seminarian of the Archdiocese of São Luis was killed, also the victim of a robbery.
