Nashville Dominicans Opening Center in Scotland

At the invitation of Bishop Hugh Gilbert of Aberdeen, four members of the Nashville, Tennessee-based Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia are opening a center in Scotland.

Sister Anna Christi, Sister Imelda Ann, Sister Nicholas Marie and Sister Christiana will be living in Greyfriars Convent in Elgin. The convent was built in the late 15th century.

In a letter to a quarterly magazine of the Diocese of Aberdeen, Light of the North, the sisters’ community says, «Already we have begun to feel something of the warmth of your welcome.»

The nuns will be officially welcomed in a ceremony this weekend.

The community has some 300 sisters, serving in 19 US dioceses, and with Scotland, four nations beside the US: Canada, Italy and Australia.
