On Dec. 7, as the Focolare Movement marked its 30th anniversary, the president announced the decision to request the opening of a cause of beatification for the founder.
Maria Voce, the president of the lay movement that seeks to promote unity, explained the petition to recognize the holiness of Chiara Lubich (1920-2008).
She said the request is made «to encourage a greater moral and spiritual commitment for the good of humanity.»
The request to open the cause of Lubich’s beatification was made to the bishop of Frascati, Raffaello Martinelli.
