Bishop Van Nho was also rector of the Nha Trang major interdiocesan seminary.
The Nha Trang Diocese, situated in the central highlands of Vietnam, is renowned for the relatively high number of vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. The seminary has to turn away applicants because of government restrictions on the number of students it can accept every year.
Pierre Nguyên Van Nho was born on Jan. 25, 1937, at Vo Canh. He was ordained a priest in 1967. He was appointed coadjutor of Nha Trang and ordained a bishop in 1997. His funeral is Tuesday.
