Pope Francis on September 15, 2018, pointed to the priestly example of Blessed Father Pino Puglisi, murdered 25 years ago to the day for his opposition to the mafia in Sicily.
The Holy Father’s remarks came in a talk to priests, seminarians, and religious in Palermo.
Fr. Pino’s life exhibited three simple words, according to the Pope:

  1. He “celebrated” the faith in the sacraments.
  2. He “accompanied” others in their journey of faith.
  3. He “bore witness” – living simply with no ambition for worldly glory.

He quoted Fr. Puglisi: “Life speaks louder than words” and  “serve in simplicity”.
