On the border between Nigeria and Cameroon, more than 30,000 people are facing a serious humanitarian emergency.
As the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, which is intent on establishing a Caliphate in Northern Nigeria, advances its front, most of those fleeing are Nigerians, reported Fides Wednesday.
Inhabitants fleeing from the city of Kerawa in the Nigerian state of Borno said Boko Haram warriors have brutally slaughtered at least 60 people, mainly Christians and soldiers.
On the other side of the border, the Cameroon city with the same name Kerawa, was also under attack. Its people were forced to flee to shelter in the city of Kolofata.
In this city are many Christians who fled Nigerian villages, as well as Muslims who fled or are fleeing from Gwoza department, also in Borno state.
However, from Borno, there are contradictory reports on the occupation by Boko Haram of the city of Bama, considered strategic since it would open the way to the conquest of the local capital Maiduguri.
