Preparations Begin for October Synod of Bishops

VATICAN CITY, MAY 1, 2001 (Zenit.org).- The secretariat for the upcoming Synod of Bishops met last week to study the working document for the October event.

The synod´s focus will be “The Bishop, Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the Hope of the World.” Cardinal Jan P. Schotte oversaw the April 24-25 meeting.

The secretariat, in a press statement, said the most interesting topics of the “Instrumentum Laboris” include the synod´s objective, the bishop´s dedication to the local Church, evangelical hope, communion in the episcopal ministry, and pastoral charity as service.
