LUANDA, Angola, MAY 15, 2001 (Zenit.org).- Jonas Savimbi, the leader of the Unita opposition movement in Angola, has called on the Catholic Church to help reopen talks with the government, BBC reported.

In a letter to the Church in Angola, Savimbi said the divine vocation of the clergy was a key requirement in resolving the southern African country´s crisis.

The message comes just weeks after the Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos asked Unita to call a cease-fire and return to the country´s peace agreement.
