Nun, 28, Killed in Burundi Ambush

BUJUMBURA, Burundi, JUNE 13, 2001 (ZENIT.orgFIDES).- A 28-year-old nun was killed Monday in an ambush laid by rebels of the Forces pour la Défense de la Démocratie, in Mutambara.

Sister Claire Nduwakristu died when her car was attacked along a road, officials said. Two other passengers, of the Burundi Diocese, were wounded but managed to escape. The car was then ransacked. Shortly before, another car had been attacked on the same road.

Sister Claire belonged to the Family of the Disciples of Christ, a diocesan congregation, and taught at the local school.
