Mary to Be Focus of Worldwide Videoconference

VATICAN CITY, MAY 28, 2002 (Zenit.org).- A worldwide videoconference of top scholars will be held Wednesday on the figure of the Blessed Virgin Mary in contemporary theology.

It will be the ninth such videoconference organized by the Vatican Congregation for the Clergy. The topic of the virtual meeting will be «Mariology from Vatican Council II Until Today.»

Following an introduction by Cardinal Darío Castrillón Hoyos, prefect of the Vatican congregation, theologians will address the audience from Rome, Moscow, Madrid, New York, Taipei, Bogota, Manila, Sydney, Johannesburg and Munich.

Among the speakers are Father Georges Cottier, Papal Household theologian; Father Jean Galot; Monsignor Bruno Forte, president of the School of Theology of Southern Italy; and Gerhard L. Muller, professor of dogmatic theology at Munich´s Ludwig Maximilian University.
