The appointment of Justice Petra J. Maes to the National Review Board brings the panel to its full complement of 13 members. The board will assist and monitor the bishops’ planned office for Child and Youth Protection.

Maes worked her way through undergraduate and law school at the University of New Mexico. Her career includes 12 years as a Children’s Court judge.

The responsibilities of the review board are described in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, adopted by the bishops last June.
