In this connection, 12 catechetical reflections have just been published by the Pontifical Council for the Family, to help with the spiritual preparation for the Jan. 23-26 meeting in the Philippines.

The text, which may be consulted in the Documents section of ZENIT's Web page, is centered on the meeting's theme: "The Christian Family: Good News for the Third Millennium."

The reflections remind Christians of "the mission of proclaiming with joy and conviction the Good News about the family," without yielding "to cultural pressures, no matter how widespread and even militant they may be."

As on previous occasions, a pastoral-theological conference will precede the Meeting of Families.

The highlight of the event will be an evening of testimonies and a Mass presided over, according to the Manila Archdiocese, by Cardinal Alfonso López Trujillo, prefect of the Pontifical Council for the Family. John Paul II appointed the cardinal his legate for the event.
