World Congress to Focus on Thérèse of Lisieux

ROME, JUNE 6, 2003 (Zenit.org).- The Cardinal Suenens Center of Cleveland, Ohio, has announced that a world congress will be held in Rome on St. Thérèse of Lisieux, to mark the fifth anniversary of her declaration as a doctor of the Church.

«Thérèse of Lisieux: Her Message for Today» is the motto of the congress, which will be held Nov. 10-11 at the Gregorian University.

The congress, which is free and open to all, will be in Italian and English. Among the scheduled participants will be Cardinal Godfried Danneels, archbishop of Brussels-Malines, and Cardinal James Francis Stafford, president of the Pontifical Council for the Laity; as well as Discalced Carmelite Father Jesús Castellano Cervera, president of the Teresianum School of Theology, and Oblate of Mary Immaculate Ronald Rolheiser.

Auxiliary Bishop Patrick Ahern of New York will also attend.

The convocation is the initiative of Doris Donnelly, director the Cardinal Suenens Center.
