Miami Auxiliary Bishop Román Retires

WASHINGTON, D.C., JUNE 9, 2003 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II has accepted the resignation of Auxiliary Bishop Agustín Román of Miami, who turned 75 last month.

Agustín Román was born in Havana on May 5, 1928. He did seminary studies in Florida and Montreal. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Mantanzas, Cuba, in July 1959.

Bishop Román was appointed auxiliary of Miami, Florida, in 1979.
