In his Independence Day message, delivered Tuesday during homily at a Mass at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, he said the Christian faith helped Europe build its social life on the principles of the Gospel, the local Times newspaper reported.

The prelate also defended the marriage between a husband and a wife, saying that a cohabiting or homosexual couple could never be accepted as being married.
