The Apostleship of Prayer announced this missionary prayer intention, which the Pope makes his own during the month. He offered his prayers and sacrifices together with thousands of the faithful worldwide.

To organize “temporal reality in conformity with the will of God,” is “one way in which the laity fulfill their vocation” through their various charisms and ministries, explained Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, commenting on the missionary intention for this month.

“Lay Catholics can participate in the field of social communications and the organization of society according to Christian principles,” the archbishop primate of Mexico told the Fides agency. “This is their political vocation, and this means we must appreciate and encourage these fields of apostolate.”

Every month, the Holy Father also offers his prayers for a general intention, which in October will be “That Christians, firm in their faith, will be open to dialogue with those who belong to other religious traditions.”
