Worcester Auxiliary Bishop Retires

WORCESTER, Massachusetts, JAN. 26, 2005 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II has accepted the resignation of Auxiliary Bishop George Rueger, of Worcester, who turned 75 last September.

George Rueger was born in Framingham, Massachusetts. He studied at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts, where he earned a bachelor’s degree, and at Boston College, where he earned a master’s degree.

He was ordained a priest of the Worcester Diocese in January 1958, and auxiliary bishop in January 1987.
