Sift Through the Noise to Hear Christ, Pontiff Urges

The Pope made this exhortation today at the end of the general audience, when he offered his traditional greeting to youth, the sick and newlyweds.

“Dear young people,” he said, “I hope you will be able to recognize, in the midst of the many voices of this world, the voice of Christ, who continues to address his invitation to the heart of the one who knows how to listen. Be generous in following him. Do not be afraid to put your energies and your enthusiasm at the service of his Gospel.”

The Holy Father’s message for the sick was to open their hearts to Christ with trust. “He will not fail to give you the consoling light of his presence,” the Pontiff assured.

“Finally, to you, dear newlyweds,” he said, “I hope that your families will respond to the vocation to be transparency of the love of God.”
