A new gesture was made by the Pope for the homeless of Rome. First were the showers in the Colonnade, then the sleeping bags on the day of his birthday and, recently, installing a barber shop.

Now Pope Francis has given Rome’s homeless 300 umbrellas, in these days of heavy rains in the Italian capital.

The local media explained that, the umbrellas given were left behind by visitors to Saint Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums. Francis decided that the homeless would be the beneficiaries of this neglect and Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, the Papal almoner, was in charge of carrying out his wish.
