Pope Francis has used his lunch break to remind seminarians to be ‘shepherds of the faithful,’ and not ‘clerics of the state.’
After celebrating Mass on Sunday, Pope Francis wrote this in the guestbook he signed at the Diocesan Seminary in Ecatepec, when he had lunch at their seminary, reported Vatican Radio.
In the message, the Pope wrote, «Let all those who in this house are prepared for the priesthood, always keep foremost in their mind Jesus Christ, the Lord and His Holy Mother. And that they prepare themselves to be shepherds of the faithful people of God and not ‘clerics of the state. Francis 14-2-16′»
Jesuit Father Antonio Spadaro,  Editor-in-chief of the Jesuit magazine La Civiltà Cattolica, sent out a photo of  the guestbook on social media.
Speaking of Jesuits, at the conclusion of the Pope’s second full day in Mexico, the Pontiff decided to make a surprise stop over to his brothers.
After visiting the Federico Gomez Children’s Hospital, Francis made an unscheduled stop with six members of the Mexican Jesuit community in the Apostolic Nunciature, where he is staying in the Mexican capitol. Pope Francis was given a relic of 20th Century martyr, Blessed Miguel Pro.
