On Saturday, the lights of the dome and façade of St. Peter’s Basilica and the colonnade of the square will be switched off from 8.30 to 9.30 p.m. for Earth Hour 2016, an initiative of the World Wildlife Fund in which Vatican City State has participated for some years.
Starting from the symbolic gesture of switching of the lights for an hour, it unites people, institutions and businesses in the common will to offer the world a sustainable future and to rise to the challenge of climate change, showing that together it is possible to make a difference.
