Pope Francis is inviting people to pray and do works of mercy so that this Christmas, we might have a “personal encounter with the Lord.”
The Pope said this today after the catechesis of the general audience, as he greeted various language groups.
He invited all present to prayer and commitment to works of mercy, “so that Christmas may be a personal encounter with the Lord and inspire goodness and solidarity in us.”
He also offered his traditional greetings to youth, the sick and newlyweds.
“Dear young people,” he said, “prepare yourselves for the mystery of the Incarnation with the obedience of faith and humility, which were Mary’s. You, dear sick, draw from her that strength and ardor for Jesus who comes among us. And you, dear newlyweds, contemplate the example of the Holy Family of Nazareth, to practice the same virtues in your family life’s journey.”
