Pope Francis will go on an official visit to the Quirinale on June 10, 2017.
“With this gesture, the Pope intends to return the visit of His Excellency Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, to the Vatican,” reads a brief note.
The Pontiff received the President of the Republic, in audience in the Vatican, on June 18, 2015.
Sergio Mattarella was elected Head of the State on January 31, 2015, on the fourth ballot of the Parliament meeting in joint session. It is not the first visit of the Italian-Argentine Pontiff to the Quirinale. On November 14, 2013, he met the then President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano in that Palace.
