“Salesian priest Titus Zeman was beatified yesterday at Bratislava, Slovakia” said Pope Francis before praying the Sunday Angelus in Bologna (Italy) this October 1st, 2017.
Pope Francis also mentioned the traditional Prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary in Shrine of Pompei, near Naples, and he called to “to read and meditate the Bible”.
Poe Francis’Address before the Angelus in Bologna
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
On this Sunday the week culminates dedicated in a particular way to the Word of God, on the occasion of the feast yesterday of Saint Jerome, great teacher of Sacred Scripture. We thank God for the gift of his Word and we commit ourselves to read and meditate the Bible, especially the Gospel.
Salesian priest Titus Zeman was beatified yesterday at Bratislava, Slovakia. He joins the long array of martyrs of the 20th century, as he died in 19969 after having been in prison a long time because of his faith and his pastoral service. May his witness sustain us in in the most difficult moments of life and help us to recognize the presence of the Lord also in trials.
Finally, we unite ourselves spiritually with the faithful gathered at the Shrine of Pompei for the traditional Prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary, presided over today by the President of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Cardinal Bassetti.
To all of you, native and “adopted” people of Bologna, I wish a good Sunday. Please, don’t forget to pray for me. Have a good lunch and goodbye!
