The South Sudan Council of Churches, in Rome for confidential consultations with the
Community of Sant’Egidio, was received in audience by the Holy Father on the morning of March 23, 2018.
Following the Council, which represents the Christian Churches of South Sudan, plan to meet the press at the Community of Sant’Egidio, in Piazza Sant’Egidio 3A, to report on the outcome of the work, take stock of the situation in the country and highlight its commitment to peace and reconciliation.

Archbishop John Baptist Odama of Gulu in Uganda, who has been involved in mediating between South Sudan’s warring parties, told Vatican News that Pope Francis was very happy to meet with the ecumenical delegation:
“Working together as Christians is more important than stressing our differences,” he said.
