Recalling that yesterday, May 13, marked Mothers’ Day in many countries throughout the world, Pope Francis called for an applause for all mothers.
The Holy Father did so yesterday, after praying the midday Regina Coeli with those gathered in St. Peter’s Square on the Sunday where in Italy and many other countries was celebrated the Solemnity of the Lord’s Ascension.
«Today, being the day dedicated to mothers in many countries, an applause for the mothers!» he said.
«I want to greet all mothers, thanking them for their custody of the family. I also remember all the mothers that watch us from Heaven and continue to protect us with their prayer,» he continued.
The Holy Father also invited those present to «pray to our heavenly Mother that today, May 13, with the name Our Lady of Fatima, that may help us to continue on the way.»
As usual, Pope Francis wished all faithful present a happy Sunday and good lunch, and reminded them to pray for him.
