On the morning of Thursday, November 29, 2018, Pope Francis received the bishops of the Episcopal Conference of the Indian Ocean, on the occasion of his Visit ad Limina Apostolorum, in the Vatican.
There are 5 bishops of this Episcopal Conference who have visited the Successor of Peter: Monsignor Gilbert Aubry, Bishop of Saint-Denis de la Réunion (Reunion); Mons. Alain Harel, apostolic vicar of Rodrigues (Mauritius), Cardinal Maurice Piat, Bishop of Port Louis (Mauritius), Bishop Charles Mahuza Yava, Apostolic Vicar of the Comoros Archipelago and Bishop Denis Wiehe, Bishop of Port Vittoria or Seychelles (The Seychelles).
During the Visit ad Limina Apostolorum, each Bishop reports to the Pope the moral and spiritual state of his diocese and everything related to his government.
In ad Limina visits the bishops of a country do every five to ten years, they pray in Rome before the tombs of Peter and Paul and renew their fidelity to the Pontiff.
