Pope Sends Telegram for Flood Victims in Australia

Holy Father Prays for Consolation of the Affected, Invokes Abundant Blessings

Pope Francis has sent his condolences for a major flood that has hit Townsville, Australia.
The telegram was sent on Pope Francis’ behalf by Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, to the Bishop Timothy Harris of Townsville.
“His Holiness,” the telegram notes, “prays especially for the repose of the deceased, the healing of those injured, and for the important work of reconstruction.” It also notes Pope Francis willingly invokes upon those affected “abundant blessings of consolation and hope.”

Having learned of the loss of life and destruction of property caused by the heavy flooding in Townsville, the Holy Father assures you of his heartfelt solidarity and prayers for all those affected by this disaster. His Holiness prays especially for the repose of the deceased, the healing of those injured, and for the important work of reconstruction. Upon all Pope Francis willingly invokes abundant blessings of consolation and hope.
