The Holy Father has accepted the resignation of Bishop José Dolores Grullón Estrella from the office of bishop of the diocese of San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic.

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of the diocese of San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic, the Reverend Tomás Alejo Concepción of the clergy of the diocese of La Vega and until now parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Fátima in the same diocese.

Curriculum vitae

Bishop Tomás Alejo Concepción was born on June 15, 1963, in Santa Ana, Villa Tapia, diocese of La Vega.

He studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Seminary “Santo Tomás de Aquino”.  He was awarded licentiates in philosophy and theology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santo Domingo and studied missiology at the Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico City, Mexico.

He was ordained a priest on August 7, 1993, for the Diocese of La Vega.

As a priest, he has served as director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, parish vicar, founder, and director of the Politécnico Arzobispo Juan Antonio Flores Santana, director of the diocesan office of liturgy, vicar for the administration of the diocese of La Vega. Until now he has served as parish priest of the Nuestra Señora de Fatima parish.
