The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the apostolic vicariate of Mongo, Chad, presented by Bishop Henri Coudray, S.J.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Philippe Abbo Chen, member of the Notre Dame de Vie Secular Institute, and until now delegate vicar of Mongo, as vicar apostolic of the same vicariate.
Msgr. Philippe Abbo Chen was born on May 10, 1962, in Dadouar, Mongo. After completing his secondary studies, he entered the Grand Séminaire Saint Luc de Bakara in N’Djamena for the preparatory year and for the ecclesiastical studies of philosophy and theology.
He was ordained a priest on May 17, 1997.
After priestly ordination, he entered the Notre Dame de Vie Secular Institute in 2001, where he gave his religious vows on August 14, 2009.
He has held the following offices: parish vicar (1997-1999); parish priest of Marjan-Daffak and head of vocational pastoral care (1999-2001); novitiate in the Notre-Dame de Vie secular institute (2001-2002); parish priest of Biktine (2003-2010); spiritual director and bursar of the Grand Séminaire de Philosophie Saint–Mbaga Tuzinde de Sarh (2010-2014); vicar general and parish priest of Biktine (2014-2019); Desert Year required by the Notre-Dame de Vie Secular Institute, in Venasque in France (2019-2020).
