(ZENIT News /Paraná, 15.02.2023).- A note from the Rectory of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná in Brazil communicated that the University Council approved the removal of the Doctorate Honoris Causa from Jesuit priest Mario Rupnik, given the Jesuit’s involvement in acts of psychological and sexual abuse against women.

Here is the press release:

The Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) communicates that, in face of the widely publicized facts involving Marko Ivan Rupnik, the University Council of the PUCPR, in extraordinary session held on February 13, 2013, in conformity with Resolution n. 01/2023, approved the removal of the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, granted on November 30, 2022 to the Slovenian artist, as it considers him “unworthy” of such an honour.

As the press release states, this Doctorate Honoris Causa was conferred on Father Rupnik just three  months ago.
