Former President Fernández did not attend the meeting alone; he was accompanied by his young son, named after the Pope: Francisco. The former first lady, Fabiola, did not attend the audience “because she underwent surgery for appendicitis on Saturday.” According to Fernández, the Pope conveyed his “wishes for her speedy recovery.”
