The beatification ceremony scheduled for April 24 will be postponed, reported the Vatican. A polish martyr and six others were to be beatified.

The ceremony planned for May 15 to beatify, among others, Charles de Foucauld, will also most likely be postponed.

Vatican sources told ZENIT that the decrees published under John Paul II’s pontificate, on the recognition of heroic virtues and miracles attributed to the intercession of servants of God, will retain their validity.

The new pope will decide the dates of beatifications and canonizations.
