Head of European Bishops Visiting Moscow

BRUSSELS, Belgium, JAN. 10, 2002 (ZENIT.org).- The president of the Commission of the Bishops´ Conferences of the European Community, Bishop Josef Homeyer, ends a two-day visit to Moscow today.

He is visiting Moscow at the invitation of Russian Orthodox Patriarch Alexy II.

Bishop Homeyer of Hildesheim, Germany, will then visit Catholicos Karekin II in Armenia over the weekend.

The aim of the trip is to intensify the contacts between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches and to discuss the common contribution of the Christian Churches to the future shape of Europe.
