Archbishop Leonardo Sandri, substitute of the Vatican State Secretariat, is scheduled to offer the scholarship during a visit to the World Trade Center site. The news was confirmed in statements to Vatican Radio by Archbishop Renato Martino, the Vatican´s permanent observer at the United Nations.
Archbishop Sandri´s visit to New York began Wednesday when he conferred the Path to Peace Award on Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
The Argentine archbishop is also scheduled to preside over the blessing of a building of the Vatican mission to the United Nations, which will be named after the Pope. At ground zero, he will lay a floral wreath on behalf of John Paul II.
