Monsignor Forte to Preach Lenten Retreat to Curia

ROME, FEB. 5, 2004 (Zenit.org).- Monsignor Bruno Forte, Italian theologian and member of the International Theological Commission, will preach the Spiritual Exercises to the Roman Curia this Lent.

The retreat begin at 6 p.m. on Feb. 29, the First Sunday of Lent, in the Redemptoris Mater Chapel in the Vatican. It will end Saturday morning, March 6.

This is the seventh time in John Paul II’s pontificate that the papal preacher is a priest who is not a bishop or a cardinal.

Born in Naples in 1949, Bruno Forte is professor of dogmatic theology at the Theological Faculty of Southern Italy, of which he is also president.

Monsignor Forte was one of the principal writers of the «Memory and Reconciliation: The Church and the Faults of the Past,» of the International Theological Commission, published during the Jubilee year 2000.
