Pope Francis on April 28, 2019, asked for prayers for the victims of the recent flooding in South Africa. High water and mudslides have killed as many as 70 and left some 1000 homeless. His comments came after reciting the Regina Coeli with the crowds in St. Peter’s Square.
“And let us pray also for all those that lost their lives or suffered serious damages due to the recent floods in South Africa,” Francis said. “May our solidarity and also the concrete support of the International Community not be lacking these brothers of ours.”
