Pope Francis took on some of the controversial topics of the times in an interview journalist Jordi Evole aired Sunday on Spanish TV channel La Sexta.
In one segment, he said he understands the anguish a woman faces who has been raped and is expecting a child but abortion is not an option. He stressed that it is never right to eliminate a life to solve a problem.
On the issue of homosexuality, the Holy Father reminded viewers that tendencies are not the same as sinful acts.
On the issue of border walls, the Pope warned that those who build walls may end up being the real prisoners of those walls.
But in what could jolt some sports fans in the Holy Father’s native nation of Argentina, he said that as great as soccer star Lionel Messi plays, fans shouldn’t look at him as “God.”
