Pope Francis has sent his condolences for victims of a fire in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The telegram was sent on Pope Francis’ behalf by Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Below is the Vatican-provided telegram:

His Holiness Pope Francis was saddened to learn of the loss of life and of the injuries caused by the conflagration in the centre of Dhaka. He extends his solidarity to all affected, and prays especially for the repose of the deceased and for the healing of those injured. Pope Francis offers encouragement to the emergency personnel as they assist the victims of this tragedy, and upon all he invokes the divine blessings of consolation and strength.
