Italian cuisine is also appreciated in Egypt …
At the nunciature, lunch was prepared by Carmine Di Luggo, a young Neopolitan Chef transplanted in Egypt after several other experiences abroad. He works in the Italian restaurant attached to the Ritz Carlton Hotel along the famous Nile River ….
Apostolic Nuncio, Monsignor Bruno Musaro, went to the restaurant to try it and decided to entrust the important task of serving the Supreme Pontiff to Carmine.

The lunch menu for the Pope, his papal entourage, and the Egyptian bishops after today’s Mass remained secret, but it was likely a bit more ‘sought-after,’ if you will, than the Pope’s supper served by Carmine at the nunciature last night.
Francis’ meal had consisted of chicken broth as a first plate, chicken as a second plate, along with a side of potatoes.
However, we do know the menu was all Italian, except the dessert: Carmine decided to go with an Argentinian Dulce de Leche.
At the end, Chef Carmine was able to greet Pope Francis.
