At the beginning of the Holy Mass, celebrated April 29, 2019, in the chapel of Santa Marta, Pope Francis has requested the intercession of St. Catherine of Siena  “to help unity of the Church, to help Italy in this difficult moment and to help the unity of Europe,” according to the Vatican News.
On the feast day of St. Catherine of Siena, the Holy Father recalled that this Doctor of the Church “prayed a lot” and worked for the unity of the Church. In addition, the saint is the patron of Italy and Europe. For all this, the Pontiff used his mediation to ask for the Church, the Italian country and the old continent.
