In a statement for the Day of the Unborn, observed Sunday, the traditional feast of the Annunciation, the organization recalled the words of Argentine President Fernando de la Rua, who stressed earlier: «We join the cry so that life will be respected from conception until its natural end, reiterating the rejection of cloning, genetic manipulation and the death penalty.»

This year, the awards of the Secretariat for Worship were conferred on Amparo Maternal (Maternal Shelter), directed by the St. Joseph´s Catholic Ladies Association; a home for unwed mothers, directed by the Sisters Servants of the Most Blessed Sacrament of Pergamino, in Buenos Aires; the Giselle Shaw Foundation; the Puerta Abierta (Open Door) day-care center of the Congregation of the Oblates of the Most Holy Redeemer; and El Amparo (The Shelter).
