In his letter to the special envoy for the event, the Holy Father expresses the hope that the upcoming celebrations will “promote the spirit and fervor of religion” in Russia as well as “concord and peace.”
John Paul II´s special envoy for the celebrations, which will be held in Moscow from May 25-27, is Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran, Vatican secretary for relations with states.
