Pope Sending $100,000 for Flood Victims in Poland

VATICAN CITY, JULY 27, 2001 (Zenit.org).- John Paul II will send $100,000 to Poland for victims of the floods that struck the southern part of the country.

The Pontifical Council «Cor Unum» will send the donation through Caritas-Poland. The Pope generally sends financial aid for victims of natural disasters.

Two people died in Warsaw on Thursday, raising the floods´ death toll to 30. Thousands of people have had to leave their homes. Heavy rains are expected to continue.
