Belgian Jesuit, 82, Killed in Congo

KIKWIT, Democratic Republic of the Congo, AUG. 31, 2001 (Zenit.org).- Belgian-born Jesuit Emil Jouret, 82, was found dead here Tuesday, the victim of an apparent robbery.

According to early reports received by Vatican Radio, Father Jouret was stabbed to death in his residence. He was a trustee of the Professional Technical Institute of Kikwit.

He entered the Society of Jesus in 1936 and was ordained a priest in 1949.
