According to unofficial sources quoted Monday by Televisa´s «El Noticiero,» the Pope will proclaim Juan Diego a saint sometime in 2002.

In an interview, Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera, archbishop of Mexico City and primate of the country, said the medical and theological commissions of the Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints have approved the miracle, a requisite for a canonization.

The process «is going very well,» the cardinal said, although he gave no specific dates for a possible canonization.
