So Far, World Trade Meeting Disappoints Vatican

DOHA, Qatar, NOV. 12, 2001 (Zenit.org).- A Vatican representative expressed his delegation´s concern over the way negotiations are developing at the ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization.

«We are a bit disappointed by the attitude of some countries, which put their interest above global interests,» Monsignor Osvaldo Neves de Almeida told Vatican Radio.

Vatican Radio reported that at the conference today there was «a feeling that an agreement on agriculture was still very far away, and the situation was not very stimulating in matters of the environment and work.»

The WTO conference ends Tuesday.
