BOGOTA, Colombia, DEC. 5, 2001 (Zenit.org).- An unidentified guerrilla group released Father Guillermo Correa Ortiz, who was kidnapped 15 months ago and is now ill.

Archbishop Isaías Duarte Cancino of Cali, the archdiocese where the priest worked, had repeatedly appealed for his release.

The priest was kidnapped Aug. 6, 2000, while visiting his family in the Huila region. He was released in this same region, Archbishop Duarte Cancino said.

«His health is frail; he is very tired, but despite everything he is very happy about his release,» Father José González said, a spokesman for the archdiocese. Father Correa Ortiz will return to his ministry «when he has recovered,» the spokesman said.
